PP & PVC Packing Filter Tube Settler for Water Treatment | Juntai Factory-Direct Supply
Two Materials. One Mission: Maximum Settling Efficiency in Minimum Space.
Juntai's PP and PVC packing filter tube settlers deliver high-rate sedimentation for drinking water plants, municipal STPs, and industrial clarifiers - with the flexibility to choose the right material for your operating environment. Both options are manufactured at our ISO-certified factory in Anhui, China, with UV protection available as standard.
How Packing Filter Tube Settlers Work
Unlike conventional open settling tanks, tube settlers use closely packed inclined channels - set at 60° - to dramatically multiply the effective settling surface within the same tank footprint. As water flows upward through the channels, suspended solids settle onto the tube walls and slide downward into the sludge collection zone. The result is a sedimentation rate 2–4× higher than a standard clarifier basin, without increasing the tank size.
The packing filter configuration takes this further: modules interlock side-by-side across the full basin cross-section, eliminating short-circuit flow paths and ensuring uniform hydraulic distribution across every channel. No dead zones. No bypassing. Consistent effluent quality across the entire installation.

Key Performance Advantages
2–4× Higher Throughput, Same Tank Footprint
Retrofitting existing clarifiers with packing filter tube settlers is the fastest, lowest-cost route to increased capacity. Plants handling 1,000 m³/day can scale to 2,000–4,000 m³/day without new civil construction. For new installations, the required tank size - and concrete cost - drops accordingly.
Up to 50% Reduction in Coagulant Dosage
Because suspended solids are captured more efficiently at lower influent turbidity, tube settlers allow coagulant feed rates to be reduced significantly without compromising treated water quality. For high-volume plants, this represents substantial annual chemical cost savings.
Less Filter Backwashing
Cleaner water entering downstream filters means longer filter runs and less frequent backwashing - directly reducing water and energy consumption in the filtration stage.
Self-Cleaning Sludge Discharge
The 60° channel angle ensures settled solids slide continuously to the basin floor under gravity, without manual intervention or motorized scrapers. Sludge accumulates cleanly at the collection zone and is discharged through standard sludge draw-off.
UV-Stabilized for Outdoor Installations
Both PP and PVC variants can be specified with UV protection, making them suitable for open-air settling basins, reservoir pre-treatment, and mining tailing ponds exposed to direct sunlight - without degradation or embrittlement over the product's 10–15 year service life.
Application Scenarios
Drinking Water Treatment
PP food-grade tube settlers meet the safety requirements for potable water applications. Used in conventional coagulation-flocculation-sedimentation trains, they reliably reduce turbidity to below 2 NTU ahead of rapid sand filtration - even during high-turbidity seasonal events.
Municipal Sewage Treatment Plants (STP)
Installed in primary or secondary clarifiers, tube settlers reduce suspended solids loading on downstream biological treatment stages. Existing STPs facing capacity constraints can retrofit tube settlers into current tanks and avoid costly basin expansion.
Industrial Wastewater Clarification
For mining, mineral processing, and chemical plant effluent with variable and high-load suspended solids, PVC tube settlers handle acidic and alkaline conditions while delivering consistent solids removal. Modular design allows phased installation as production scales.
Food & Beverage Process Water
PP food-grade modules are suitable for clarifying process water in dairy, brewery, and food manufacturing facilities where material safety compliance is mandatory. Easy to clean, chemically inert, and certified for contact with potable water streams.
Stormwater & Reservoir Pre-Treatment
Packing filter tube settlers reduce sediment and turbidity in stormwater runoff before it enters natural water bodies or storage reservoirs, protecting downstream infrastructure from solids accumulation.

Installation Overview
Step 1 - Basin Survey: Measure tank L × W × H; verify structural load capacity (≥ 150 kg/m²) for module weight.
Step 2 - Support Frame: Install stainless steel support grids using laser-leveled alignment to ensure consistent module inclination.
Step 3 - Module Assembly: Interlock PP/PVC modules using tongue-and-groove connectors; seal joints with silicone gaskets for watertight installation.
Step 4 - Inlet Distribution: Adjust inlet weirs to maintain 0.8–1.2 m³/h·m² surface loading rate for optimal performance.
Step 5 - Pre-Filtration (if required): Install 80–100 µm pre-filters upstream to protect tube settler channels from coarse debris in high-TSS influent.
Step 6 - Commissioning: Monitor effluent turbidity and sludge blanket level during initial 48-hour startup; adjust coagulant dosage accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which material should I choose - PP or PVC?
Choose PP if your application involves drinking water, food-grade process water, or strongly corrosive chemical effluent. PVC is the standard choice for municipal wastewater and general industrial applications. Both can be UV-stabilized for outdoor use.
Can tube settlers be retrofitted into my existing clarifier?
Yes - retrofitting is one of the most common applications. Modules are lightweight and modular, and can be installed in most rectangular or circular basins without structural modification. Our team can advise on module quantities and support frame design based on your tank dimensions.
How long do the modules last?
Properly maintained PP and PVC tube settler modules achieve 10–15 years of service life. UV-stabilized variants are recommended for any installation with direct sun exposure.
What maintenance is required?
Tube settlers are largely self-maintaining. Periodic inspection for biofilm accumulation is recommended (especially in warm climates). Cleaning with low-pressure water jet is sufficient if any fouling is observed. No chemical cleaning is required under normal operating conditions.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No. We accept orders of any quantity, from sample packs to full-project supply. Freight cost varies by volume - contact us for a quote based on your required quantity and destination.
