tube settlers work in 2 ways;
First, they provide a large surface area for settlement of particles. This is because of the angle at which they are joined.
Secondly, they are used to accumulate the smaller particles until they form larger particles that can move down the pathway uniformly.
Tube settlers are common in rectangular clarifiers, where they increase the settling surface area of particles. This works by means of increasing the vertical distance the particle will have to move before settling.By the use of parallel tubes, tube settlers make upward water movement to be uniform.
